That's a lot o' stuff! Though I guess I can't really say that since I haven't travelled a lot since I started running. Usually it's for 2-3 days...just enough to get one run in. I usually pack my vff's, shorts and a running shirt. If I'm going to a cold place I pack another layer and some gloves, but that's about it...hmmm, except for my iPhone...and my Oakley Rockrs...and that's it...oh, and armband for the iPhone...I guess it adds up. ;)

Hmm...two hundred situps and two hundred pushups? That sounds like fun! Ya know...the kinda fun like running in 100*F+ weather with high humidity. That sorta fun!

I think you might be a little hard on yourself? (granted this is the first time I've read your blog, but follow)

In sports the way in which we analyze something is very concrete - we either win / lose or we run our best or we don't. For elite athletes the goals are also very easily set; they run an A standard on the track, they place "x" in a race or they break an American Women's record for a first time marathon.

All those are very concrete. Most of life is not so easily defined. What parameters is a writer judged by? And are not those parameters incredibly more subjective than running a specific time on a specific course?

Running is the ultimate sport in my mind because it offers us that objective analysis, something that even team sports don't allow. Plus we can all get out there and participate.

I just finished week one of the push-up challenge. Barf. I hate push ups. But I think I'll try these sit-ups, too. Extra barf. But lord knows my abs could use it...

Thanks for the review. I've been wanting to check this mag out after hearing lots of good things from various runners (men and women). I signed up for a trial subscription that came with a race entry fee, so I'll get a chance to check it out when it comes in the mail. I've been reading some of the articles online and they seem fairly legit, however I agree with you-Runner's World is certainly the premier running mag. RW journalists have a way of making their interviews with middle-of-the-pack runners just as important as their elite runner highlights. I think it's respectful, and plays nicely into their ability to foster community through print and online.

I'm looking forward to reading about what you think as you get to know Women's Running Mag a bit more. I'll share again when I get my first issue. Thanks!
